Status Alert Module (SAM)
The Status Alert Module (SAM), a.k.a. “Situational Awareness”, is a monitoring and rules-based engine that leverages the IPsession paging and dial out capability. The key points of situational awareness are:
- Know: Know what is going on in your environment.
- Hear: Hear what is going on in your environment.
- See: See what is going on in your environment.
The situational awareness module is open for alarm mechanisms to send alerts and then have those alert messages delivered to a zone of Cisco IP Phones and mobile devices. Monitored devices can include and are not limited to the following:
- Panic Buttons
- Fire Sensors
- Window and Door Sensors
- Temperature Sensors
- Motion Detectors
- Nurse Call Systems
- Fire Panels
- Security Panels
- HVAC systems
Situational Awareness allows the customer to determine the situation to monitor and the endpoints to notify when an event occurs.

Nurse Call Module
The IPsession Nurse Call Module provides for group paging as well as one-button call back functionality. The nurse call module works using the following steps:
- 1. Alert generated from patient’s room.
- 2. Alert message delivered to nurse paging zone (includes multiple phone devices).
- 3. First responding nurse, selects ‘Call Back’ softkey.
- 4. The following two actions take place:
- a. Call establish to patient’s room where alert was generated from.
- b. Text page sent to other phones in nurse paging zone, notifying that ‘first responding nurse’ is addressing the situation.
Using the appropriate endpoint (sensors), SAM can be the nurse call system. If there is a nurse call system in place, SAM can integrate to the nurse call system.
i.Patch Module
The i.Patch Module provides integration to i.Patch, an intelligent patch panel provided by Systimax (CommScope). i.Patch collects location information of endpoints connected to the network, including Cisco IP Phones. The i.Patch Module uses the information collected by i.Patch to provide the physical location of Cisco IP Phones on the network. This information is then used with IPsession’s Internal 911 Alert Notification capability, when calls are generated to 911. As a Cisco IP Phone moves within the network, i.Patch will update the current location information in the database. When a 911 call is made, the i.Patch module will check the database and then send the most current location information of the Cisco IP Phone as part of the internal alert message.
IP Speakers Module
The IP Speakers Module is used to integrate to IP Speakers provided by Digital Acoustics. The module allows the IP Speakers to be configured as part of paging zones or be part of their own paging zones. Using IP Speakers in your organization allows you to support one IP-based network and leverage the many ways IPsession provides audio type paging.
Language Module
The Language Module provides a way for your organization to select a language that will be used for the web and phone interface. At this time, there are only two languages to select from, English or French-Canadian, and we intend to support more languages in the future.
Click-to-Call Module
Click-to-Call is a pc application that users can highlight phones numbers from any Internet Explorer (IE) browser page. Once highlighted, users select 'Click-to-Call' and the number will be dialed from their Cisco IP Phone. At this time the Click-to-Call feature only supports numbers that are present in an IE browser page.
